 Independent research funded by ABurnet Ltd found that: 

• Hair needs to be folded flat and held to help contain hair and prevent shed hairs from falling
• When adjusting headwear or fidgeting such as scratching, there is a mechanical force that pushes hairs up through all fabric structures
• Short hair is more easily pushed up through fabric structures
• Hair can be pushed through most fabric structures such as non-wovens, knitted and woven fabrics
