It's Simple: Effective Hair Nets Reduce Contamination

Posted by Friday 23 June 2017

Hair contamination is still an issue. Customers are being put off brands by discovering hair in their products. You don’t have to look far on social media to find evidence of this. It is shocking when simple measures can be put in place to prevent this. Adopting HACCP International certified hair restraints and wearing them effectively means complaints can be reduced by up to 80%.

Our cool, comfortable products increase comfort which reduces the users tendency to fidget or scratch. This reduces the risk of the food handler being a cross vector of pathogens found on the scalp, such as Staphylococcus Aureus, this can occur even if the individual is gloved. Fidgeting can also disturb the hairline and push hair through the fabric increasing contamination risk.

Developed with this University of Bolton our products contain specially developed, patented fold and hold, light recoiling technology. This hold hair flat, key to contain the hair. Our products last longer than mob/bouffant, and don’t need to be replaced during breaks reducing your cost and waste.

It’s important to note that Professor Subhash Anand MBE, Professor of Technical Textiles, Institute for Materials Research and Innovation, University of Bolton states. “Non-woven materials such as those used in mob/bouffant caps shouldn’t be used as hair barrier fabrics… it will neither hold the head of hair or grip hair that protrudes through…. it’s a totally unsuitable material.”

Prevent hair contamination using our Training Guide containing research conducted by the University of Bolton and the president of the Trichological society 2015-16. Aburnet also provide free online training and audit tools to improve staff engagement and monitor compliance. View them here
