Why Even Gregg Wallace Has To Wear A Hair Net
Posted by Friday 08 March 2019
In the successful BBC show inside the factory, star of MasterChef Gregg Wallace is seen wearing some form of hair covering. Across social media people ask why as a bald man does he need to wear one? Well as Europe’s and one of the World leading experts in hair containment we will explain.
With research from the University of Bolton we found that the pathogen Staphylococcus Aureus is commonly found on the skin especially the scalp. So, to prevent cross contamination a complete fabric head covering is recommended. It is advised to wear a breathable product which unlike commonly used Mob Caps are comfortable to wear and reduce the users urge to fidget, which can significantly increase the risk of contamination. Many of our products include StayCool technology, which wicks moisture away from the scalp and into the atmosphere, significantly reducing sweat and a wearers urge to remove or replace the product.
However, bacteria on the scalp is not the only reason why a bald or person with little hair should wear a covering. Often, although people appear to be bald, many just have very short hair that could still fall out. Did you know that in one day and without taking in to account modern hair practices such as styling, straightening, drying etc an individual can shed between 100 and 150 hairs.
On the show Gregg is often seen wearing a Mob Cap, according to Professor Subhash Anand, MBE, Professor of Technical Textiles, Institute for Materials Research and Innovation, University of Bolton, these products “should not be used as a hair barrier fabric…It is a totally unsuitable material.” At Aburnet our patented products are certified by HACCP International, the food safe body and have been proven to be effective by industry. Plus replacing commonly used Mob Caps with our UK made products could dramatically reduce the amount of hair containment products that go to landfill.
